ARTISTS - How it works?
ZONEZ is a public benefit corporation whose mission is to support the independent artist, musician, DJ and fashion designer by democratizing live, high traffic public spaces to provide exposure and access to thousands of new, passionate fans worldwide via music street festivals and Artwalks through our tech platform.
Although there have been many innovative business models for artists created due to the internet, there are still barriers to getting exposure in the offline world due to an existing gatekeeper paradigm. You can't play at major festivals unless you have a booking agent. You can't sell your clothes on Melrose or 5th Avenue unless you go through a buyer. And you can't present your artwork at most museums unless, well, you're dead (we're joking but you get the point) We theorize that this is a major reason why the "starving artist" stereotype still holds true today.
It doesn't have to be that way.
Kevin Kelly, editor of Wired Magazine, famously coined the term 1,000 True Fans whereby if an artist were to find at least one thousand fans who would pay $50 - $100 per year, this would provide a decent living wage for majority of artists.
Unfortunately, it is challenging to develop that kind of connection purely online.
The internet still can't replicate the feeling of hearing a song live, touching the fabric of a new jacket, observing the details of a painting or dancing with fellow fans so we want to break down these barriers so that you can truly make the art you want vs compromising your creative vision.
Additionally, from time to time, we also may secure sponsorships and fees from foundations, advertising and civic partners. In those cases, we share the proceeds with artists in a fair, equitable and transparent manner.
Come join the evolution...
